Please be sure to visit the 2022 SCHOOL YEAR ADVANCEMENTS & GRADUATIONS thread to either advance your student up to the next year, get held back, or graduate into their field of choice! Additionally, if you're interested in a Quidditch, Prefect, Representative, or Head position, be sure to reply to the FALL '22-SPRING '23 STUDENT POSITIONS APPLICATION thread!
Students need not head back home just yet - the school boards have all come together to throw a end-of-the-year carnival/festival that spans from the Friday evening until Sunday afternoon (June 17th-19th, 2022). random event information & request
Here, you will find information regarding the Random Event process, and will even be able to request a random event to occur in your thread(s) below!
As in real life, things don't always go as planned. Expect the unexpected! Shit happens. And sometimes, things are just entirely unpredictable and uncontrollable.
That's where RANDOM EVENTS (otherwise known as RE's) come in to play.
Maybe it's something as silly as an owl crashing into someone as they're having a conversation in the courtyard at Hogwarts - or something drastic like a sinkhole opening up under the grounds at Ilvermorny. Random Events can occur at anytime, anywhere, providing an element of surprise to those characters who are there to witness it. Of course, we don't want to run amok and ruin all of your threads, so some guidelines will definitely be put into place to make this as enjoyable of a feature as possible.
A word of assurance from the Administrators - Random Events will NEVER kill your character (I mean...unless you want them to...). An event that may cause bodily harm if not handled properly isn't out of the realm of possibility - but nothing that a Healer can't fix - we promise. Besides - when a RE happens, it's up to YOU as the roleplayer to determine how to respond.
As a courtesy to our members, Random Events will generally not occur in private member threads, unless a Random Event is requested (see below). We want this to be a fun feature, not an annoying one!
In all GROUP THREADS, however, Random Events are fair game. Please be aware of this when posting in events, celebrations, parties, Quidditch and Quodpot matches, classes, etc. that a Random Event MAY occur. Of course, we don't want to detract members from posting in these sorts of threads - so again, just to reiterate, we won't do anything that can kill a character (unless a direct request is received by the roleplayer), but damage and destruction might occur! Really, we just want to make things fun, keep people on their toes, and provide opportunities for unlikely conversations or characters to come together to problem solve - or have fun - depending on the situation created by the RE.
At all other times, a Random Event may occur or pop up anywhere on the site as a standalone thread that characters within the vicinity of the event may come together and observe and react to what's going on.
Random Events are meant to spice up threads and plots that may be a bit lackluster or might have gone stagnant. If you find yourself not sure of how to proceed in a thread that you are currently in, maybe a Random Event is for you! If you would like a RE to occur in your thread, please fill out the form below and reply in the comments, and a RE will find its' way to
